Big John Statue, Cape Coral, Florida

     In May, 1969 Craig and John Hollingsworth purchased an existing grocery store in Cape Coral, Florida on Cape Coral Parkway.   They renamed the store Big Johns. They commissioned  a 28 foot fiberglass figure to be built as the store’s mascot.  They named it big John.  It represented a store clerk carrying two grocery bags. The statue was made by the General Sign Company in Cape Giradeau,Missouri.

    Big John stood in front of the store until its closing in 1986.  It is still in Big Johns plaza. It has undergone changes.  Big John wears an American Flag shirt,acid washed jeans and sneakers.  During holidays, it is dressed in holiday garb.

     Big John is now the landmark mascot of Cape Coral, Florida

     The Cambridge, Ontario Main Street Bridge is located in the historic center of Galt. It spans the Grand River.  Its design is concrete bow string.

    The bridge was designed by Archibald C.Crealock.  It was built by W.H. Yates Construction Company.  The construction took place in 1931. It opened on 12/22/1931.

     The bridge total length is 57.3 m.  It has a single main support and two spans of 28 m each.  There are two lanes for vehicles and sidewalks on either side of the bridge.

     In 2009, the bridge underwent repair and reconstruction.  It reopened in July, 2009.

Provo River Parkway Bridge, DRG Provo River Bridge, Olmsted Bridge in Utah County, Utah

This bridge was built in 1884. It was relocated in 1901 and 1919.  It crosses the Provo River in Utah County, Utah. The builders were the Union Bridge Company Buffalo, New York and Athens, Pennsylvania and Pennsylvania Railroad. It was owned by the Denver and Rio Grande and Western Railroad. The bridge was abandoned in 1969.
     The bridge is a wrought iron pin connected 5 panel Pratt through truss.

Seaboard Coast Line Railroad Wood Trestle Bridge over Alligator Creek in Punta Gorda, Florida

    This is a wood trestle bridge.  It crosses Alligator Creek in Punta Gorda, Florida.  The bridge is currently owned by Seaboard Coast Line Railroad
