Extends from Sarasota to Venice

     The Glore House was designed  for an investment banker, Charles Gore.  The House sits on 2 acres in Lake Forest one block from Lake Michigan

   This house was commissioned by Isidore Heller, an Austrian immigrant.  The architect was Frank Lloyd Wright.  It was built in 1897.   This is a three story villa with 6100 square feet of space.  There are seven bedrooms and 5 bathrooms. There are 4 fireplaces.  The exterior is yellow Roman brick.  There are rows of trimmed windows.

Bridge

Matlacha Bridge

    Nokomis Beach Pavilion was Sarasota’s first beach pavilion. It is located on Casa Key Road. It was built in 1954. The architect was Jack West who was a member of Sarasota School of Architecture.

     The Pavilion featured paved plaza,fountain and bathhouse of stacked Ocala block. Over the years, the Pavilion deteriorated and was in need of restoration.

The architect enlisted for this project in 2008 was once again Jack West.

The Pavilion was listed on the National Register of Historic Places May 28, 2013.

This is a double leaf bascule bridge in Nokomis. It spans the Gulf Intracoastal Waterway. It connects Casey Key with the mainland on Albee Road. This bridge was built in 1963. It replaced an old swing bridge that was located to the south.

The bridge is 309.1 feet in length. Average Daily traffic is 4,900.

This is a single lane swing bridge crossing the Gulf Intracoastal Waterway. It is located near Osprey, Florida. It connects Casey Key with the mainland on Blackburn Point Road (CR-789)

    Mr.Abbot is a fellow of the American Institute of Architects. He is the youngest member of the Sarasota School of Architecture. He was born in Darien, Georgia in 1935.. He received his Bachelor’s degree in Architecture from the University of Florida. He received his Master’s Degree in Architecture at Yale University in 1962 under Paul Rudolph, a member of the Sarasota School of Architecture.

     After graduation, he worked with Bert Brosmith, architect Sarasota 1959–1961. He worked with Architects Hawaii, Ltd, Honolulu 1962–1963. He worked Norman Foster at Team 4 London 1962–1963. Then he went to New York City to work with I.M. Psi, Architect 1964–1965. He founded his own practice in Sarasota in 1966
