Ropp-Grabill House

This building is  located at 4132 N. Keeler Avenue in Chicago.  It is located in the  Irving Park neighborhood.  It is thought that it was built in the 1860’s; but records of this period were lost in the Chicago Fire.   The style is Italianate.  It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1985.

Carl Schurz High School.

Carl Schurz is a Chicago Public High School.  It is located in the  Irving Park  Neighborhood.  The address is 4340 N. Milwaukee Avenue.   The school is named after Carl  Schurz,  a German American soldier and statesman.  The school opened in 1910. The construction costs were $5000,000.   The building was designed by Dwight Perkins.  Its style is a combination of Chicago and Prairie.   Capacity was 1,4000 students.

It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places on 2/22/2011

This house is located at 3926 North Keeler Avenue in the  Irving Park neighborhood Chicago.  It was build in 1889 for real  estate developer Charles N. Loucks.  The architect was Clarence Tabor.

The style is Queen Anne.  Notable features are:  1) colored beveled glass windows; 2) verandah with beaded spindle works; 3) applied metal ornaments; 4) distinctive turret; 5)pressed brick external wall on the first floor; 6) cedar shingles on the external wall of the upper levels.

This house was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in February, 1984.

Colvin House

The Edwin Colvin House is located at 5940 Sheridan Road in the Edgewater neighborhood of Chicago. It was build in 1906. The architect was George Maher. The original owner was Harry Stevenson, a manufacturing magnate. The second owner (after whom the house was named) was Edwin Colvin, a VP of W.F. Hall Printing.

The house has a square footage of 6,040 feet. The external wall is made of yellow Roman bricks. There is a non working organ. There are three marble fire places. There is a butler pantry and a wine cellar. The architectural style is Prairie.

The third owner, the Barises had angels carved in the ceilings and redecorated in a 1920’s Spanish décor.

Over the years, the building deteriorated and there was damage from leaking from the roof.

The building was used as an event and a wedding venue. Currently, it is used a a creative co working facility
