     The Cathedral Basilica of Saint Francis of Assisi is a Roman Catholic Church located in downtown Santa Fe, New Mexico.  Its address is 131 Cathedral Place.  The church was built under the guidance of Archbishop Jean Baptist Lamy.

     Construction of the Cathedral lasted from 1869–1886. It was built on the former site of an older church built in 1626.

     The building style is Romanesque Revival.  Round arches are separated by Corinthian Columns.   There are truncated square towers.  Both the rose colored window in the front and the lateral naive windows of the 12 apostles were imported from Clermont-Ferrand France.  The outside walls of the church were built of yellow limestone blocks.  The Cathedral Basilica was listed on the National Register of Historic Places on July 23, 1973.

    This resort is set in 23 acres.of tropical landscape. It features its own pristine beach.  

    The Casa Ybel Resort was built in the mid 1880’s by Reverend George Barnes. It was intention to build a quiet cottage.  However, it evolved into a 30 room inn.

   Georgia Barnes, George’s daughter met and subsequently married a guest at the inn.  Her father built her a beautiful mansion as a wedding gift.This became the Thistle Lodge. This is the home of the Thistle Lodge Beachfront Restaurant.

Orpheum Theater,  Sioux City, Iowa

Orpheum Theater, Sioux City, Iowa

    The Sioux City, Iowa Orpheum Theater is located at 528 S. Pierce Street.  It was built in 1927.  It was designed by the Chicago Firm of Rapp and Rapp.It was part of the Orpheum Circuit of movie and vaudeville palaces. The major builder was Arthur Sanford. Construction costs were 1.7 million dollars.  Style is late 19th and 20th century Revival, French Renaissance.

     The theater featured hand carving detail, gilded ornamentation, crystal chandeliers, hand painted ceiling.  It had a large Wurlitzer organ.

Orpheum Theater, Sioux City, Iowa

     Over the years, the theater was remodeled multiple times. In 1982, it was converted to a twin facility with two screens. The facility operated in this configuration until 1992. It closed at that time.

     In 1999, the Orpheum underwent an extensive 12 million dollar remodel. The architect for this project Ed Storm.  The theater reopened in 2001.

     The Orpheum Theater was listed on the National Register of Historic Places on.August 25, 20oo
