    This bridge type is concrete deck girder.It spans the Indian River on CR 402.  It is located in Titusville, Florida.

     The bridge was built in 2010. Construction costs were $44.8 million. It was a replacement for  deteriorating  steel swing bridge and south relief bridge. Both of these were constructed in the 1940’s.

     The total length of the bridge is 3,207 feet. It is 50 feet with de. It is 65 feet above sea level.

ACL Wauchula, Florida Railroad Station 135 Main Street, Wauchula, Florida

       Originally in 1886, the Florida Southern Railroad acquired the right of way in Wauchula, Florida.  A wooden depot was built in 1899.  The ACL subsequently acquired the right of way.
 The ACL Railroad built a red brick one story station in Wauchula.   Construction extended from 1914 to 1915.  It opened  1/28/1915.  The current interior features exposed brick walls and rafters.  The floor is original.  Train service was discontinued on 6/10/1986.  No railroad tracks are currently present.

     A portion of the Depot is used as a rental area for events.  The Wauchula Chamber of Commerce rents space at the depot.  Hardee Business Hub rents space at the depot

Fort Meade Florida Railroad Station 330 Broadway West

      This railroad station was built by the ACL railroad.  It is located at 330 Broadway West, Fort Meade, Florida.  No railroad tracks are present.  There is an adjacent warehouse.  The depot appears similar to the one in Bowling Green, Florida.

     The station does not appear to be currently used.  The right of way was originally owned by the Florida Southern Railroad.

     Across the street from the station is the Fort Meade History Museum.

ACL Railroad Station, Bowling Green, Florida

   The railroad depot at Bowling Green, Florida was built for the Atlantic Coast Line Railroad. It was built in 1925. It is located at 201 East Main Street. It is a one story red brick building.   It currently appears to be used for storage.  There are no railroad tracks.  There is an Atlantic Coastal Line Railroad Caboose on site.

     The Depot resembles the one at Fort Meade, Florida.

     The Nokomis School Florida, one the oldest educational institutions was built  in 1924. It was a 2 room Mediterranean Style Building.  Originally, children from grades 1-8 attended the school. In 1927, 2 wings of three classrooms were added to accommodate students from Laurel, Nokomis, Venice and Englewood grades 9-12.

Olde Fishe House Marina Restaurant

This restaurant is located at 4530 Pine Island Rd. N.W. Matlacha.  It has operated since 2011.  It features local cuisine, American, Seafood, soups and vegetarian.  It serves beer, wine and alcohol drinks.  It is wheel chair acessible

     The author visited this restaurant.  The food is tasty.  Service is ok due to staff limitations.  Parking is free.

Charlotte Harbor Environmental Center; An Environmental Education, Research, and Recreational Facility; Alligator Creek Preserve

     The preserve is located at 10941 Burnt Store Road, Punta Gorda, Florida. It is adjacent to the 40,000 Charlotte Harbor Preserve State Park.  The CHEC and Alligator Creek Preserve is located on land leased from the State of Florida.  The Preserve includes 4 trails.

Caniff Welcome Center

     Located on the property is the Caniff  Welcome Center.  This is opened to the public  from October to April. It is located at the end of a boardwalk.It is an all wood structure on stilts.  It has a wrap around deck. Inside has a small live animal exhibit including Henry a Ball Python, Izra a Skink, Isaac a Red Rat Snake, Daisy  a Russian tortoise, and Elon a Razorback Musk Tortoise.

Old Collier County Courthouse Everglades City, Florida

Historical Plaque Old County Courthouse

     The Old Collier County Courthouse is located in Everglades.City, Florida which was the first county seat.  It functioned as the County Courthouse until  1962.

     It was built from 1926 to 1928.  Construction costs were $25,000.   The style is neoclassical.  The builder was Barron Collier.  It is a two story concrete and stucco building.  The building later served a the Everglades City City Hall.

     The building was damaged during a hurricane in 2005.  It was completely restored.
