Sarasota’s Women’s Club building is located at 1241 Palm Avenue, Sarasota. It is one of the most culturally significant historic structures in Downtown Sarasota. It was built in 1915. The cornerstone was laid on January 1,1915 for the club house
The architect was H.N. Hall. It was built by George Lysat. The building features a distinct Tudor Revival Architectural Style w byith wooden craftmenship, high ceilings and deep pitched roof lines.
Uses of the Building over the Years
1915–1940. It was used as the club house for the Sarasota Women’s Club. It was the site of Sarasota’s first library. Held civic and social events.
1940’s–1970’s.It continued as a cultural and social center hosting performances, lectures, charity events, and educational programs.
1977–present. It became the Florida Studio Theater (Keating Theater) offering main stage productions, children’s theater, educational programs, and community arts exhibition s
