This is an unincorporated community 5 miles north of Englewood in Sarasota County Florida. It was settled in 1918 as A headquarters for the Neely established Manasota Lumber company. At one time, this was a massive operation managing thousand acres of timberland.At its peak between 1918 to 1923 the operation at Woodmere was a fully self contained company town with industrial, residential and civic buildings.
The heart of the operation was the massive industrial complex.
