This building was the first bank and post office in Sarasota County. The bank was at this building from 1925-1927.. The post office was at the building for four decades.

It  also housed the  Komsee Inn beginning in the mid  1930’s. to the mid 1940’s.. There were likely five guest rooms all on the second floor.

For a time the building was owned by Jean Grosjean and his wife. They operated an antique clock repair shop.out of the building. His wife operated a knit shop.  They owned the building from from the late 1960’s into the early 2000’s.

This building is the oldest one on US 41 between Venice and Tamps

An interesting feature of the building is the presence of the cast in place concrete bank vault on the first floor.  Curiously, the door of the vault is missing
