This site is located in Lyons, Illinois.  It is  in the Chicago Portage Forest Preserve and the Ottawa Trail Woods Forest Preserve.  It is at the junction of Portage Creek with the DesPlaines River.  It contains the west end of the Chicago Portage between the DesPlaines River and the Chicago River.  The Portage contains the Portage Creek and Mud Lake.
