The Legislative Library of British of Columbia is located at 501 Belleville St., British Columbia.  The current building occupies a wing of Parliament.  It was built in 1915.

     The architect was Francis Rattinbury.  The building style is neoclassical baroque.  The building serves as a resource source for legislators and other government officials. There is a wide range of publications and materials.

Fisgard Lighthouse is located in Fisgard Lighthouse National Historic Site in Colwood, B.C.  It was the first lighthouse on the West Coast of Canada.  It was constructed in 1859 to 1860 by the British Colonial Government of Vancouver, Island

The foundation is granite. The construction is brick.   Its height is 14.6 m.  The shape.is tapered cylindrical.  There is a tower with balcony and a lantern.   The architects were John Wright and Hermann Otto Tiedmann.  The builder was Joseph DesPard Pemberton.

There were 12 fulltime lighthouse keepers until 1929 when the lighthouse was automated.  The lighthouse was in continuous operation until 1957.  It was out of service for a year as a result of a fire.

Fisgard Lighthouse

     The Dairy Queen in Sanibel has been at its location at 1046 Periwinkle for  52 years. It was owned by the Myers family.

     Unfortunately, the building sustained marked damage from Hurricane Ian.  It was closed.  The property which includes a duplex behind Dairy Queen and an adjacent lot has been recently sold.  What will the future for the area is uncertain.

     Snook Haven is a restaurant located on 5000 E. Venice, Venice  Fl.  It is located on the Myakka River.  Its food experience is suggestive of old Florida.  It specializes in smokehouse barbeque including chicken, pork and shrimp.  The restaurant features live music.

     The area has an interesting history including smugglers during prohibition, and move making..

     In 1988, the area opened up to the public as a fishing camp and a restaurant.

     Snook Haven is managed by Venice Pier Group.  They also manage Fins and Sharkeys.

The Shell Factory is an old school roadside attraction in North Fort Myers for over 80 years. It featured exotic and domestic animals, bars, restaurants, dog park, amusement rides ,zip lines. Its largest claims to fame are that it was the largest shell retailer in.the world and it previously had the largest taxidermy collection in North America. It also had a weekly flea market. Unfortunately, it closed its doors in September of 2024.
