This building is located on the grounds of New College, Sarasota.  Its address is 5315 Bayshore.  

     Its style is Mediterranean Revival.  It was designed by John Philips for Ralph and Ellen Caples .  It was built in 1921.

      The building is 3 stories. The exterior is stucco.   The main residence  is u shaped with an.open.court yard facing the bay. The windows are square and arch headed stain glass. The roof is red tiled.   There are 2 living rooms, one dining room, 4 bedrooms, 4 bathrooms and a tiled porch.

    East of the residence is a two story  masonry garage and apartment with 3 bay garage and a tile hiped roof.  There is a two bay sticker masonry storage shed east of the garage.

     The house overlooks Sarasota Gulf.

     The property.was bequeathed to New College in 1962.

    After acquired by New College, it was transformed into classrooms and professors offices.

Nine million dollar were spent in renovation of the building.
