The Beaufort Arsenal is located at 713 Craven St. Beaufort, South Carolina. It was designed by Colonel Thomas Tailbird. It was built in 1798 to house the Beaufort Voluntary Artillery. It served as a place for meetings, social gatherings, and parties. It also served for munition storage. Parts of arsenal were rebuilt on the 1850’s.
It currently serves at the home of the Beaufort History Museum and a visitor center
