Kenosha Southport Lighthouse

     The Kenosha Light Station was also known as the Southport Light Station.  The ground complex consists of a lighthouse and adjacent keeper house. It is located on Simmons island, north of the channel into Kenosha Harbor.

Lighthouse built in 1866

     The lighthouse was built in 1866.The foundation is stone and the walls are Milwaukee Creme Brick. The lighthouse is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The height is 55 feet.It was deactivated 1906-1966.

Lighthouse Keeper House

     The light keeper house is adjacent to the light house. It was also built in 1866. It was 2 stories.  The brick wall was made of Milwaukee cream brick. The building style is Greek Revival.  There were additions to the building in 1907.
