Ace Theatre Building Rosemary District Sarasota, Florida.
This structure was located at 1419 5th Street, Sarasota, Fl. It opened in the 1920’s as an open air theater. In 1935, management was taken over by Wotemco theaters. (Wotmeco was founded in 1925 as movie chain based in Miami, Fl. In 1938, a roof was installed over the building.
in 1942, management was taken over by Paramount in its E.J. Sparks subsidiary. In 1945, the building underwent an extensive renovation. Its style became Streamline Moderne. This was an International style of Art Deco that emerged in the 1930’s.
In 1953, it operated as an Afro American Thater. It had one screen and 400 seats.
It closed in 1967. From 1967 to 1977, the building operated as a church
