High bridge Water Tower

     The High bridge Water Tower is located in High bridge Park.   It is 200 feet in height. When it was operational, it had a 47,000 gallon water tank.    The Tower is 200 feet in height. It was fed by the Croton Aqueduct.

     The tower was built in 1866-1872.   The tower opened in 1872 and was fully operational by 1875. When in use,it delivered clean water to Manhattan. The architect was John Jervis.  Its style is Romanesque Revival and Neo Greek.  There was a 7 acre reservoir next to it.

     The tower ceased to deliver to water to Manhattan on December.15, 1949.

     The Dakota Building is located across from  Central Park.  Its address is One West 72 nd Street New York, New York.  The building was commissioned by  Edward Clark (one of the founders of the Singer sewing machine company).  The architect was Henry Janeway Hardenbergh.  

   He designed the building to have 65 apartments each unique.  The building gate leads to an outside court from which all units are accessible.

  The building is 9 stories high.  The exterior is brick with sandstone trim.  The style is German Renaissance.

     Famous residents of the building n included Judy Garland, Lauren.Bacall, Rosemary Clooney, John Lennon and Yoko Ono

Alexander Hamilton Bridge

     The Alexander Hamilton Bridge carries 8 lanes of traffic. It is an open spàndrel deck arch bridge.  It crosses the Harlem River. It connects Manhattan and the Bronx.  The bridge opened on January 15,1965

Washington Heights Bridge

     This is a two hinged arch bridge. Its length is 2370 feet.  Its clearance is 134 feet

. It crosses the Harlem River. It connects 181 Street and Amsterdam Avenue in Washington Heights, Manhattan with University Avenue in Morris Heights, Bronx.

     It opened in 1888.  It carries 6 lanes of traffic and bilateral sidewalks. The bridge was designed by Charles Schneider and Wilhelm Hildebrand.

      It  was listed on the National Register of Historic Places on September 22, 1983

Henry Hudson Bridge

     This is a double deck.steel arch bridge.  It carries 6 lanes of traffic. It crosses Spuyten Duyvil Creek.  The first deck was opened in 1936. The second.deck opened in 1938.  The bridge was designed by David B. Steinman.

  The total.length was 2,208 ft.

Grand Street Bridge

     The Grand Street Bridge is a through truss swing bridge.  The bridge has a steel superstructure and deck.  The piers are masonry.

     The bridge crosses Newton Creek.  It connects Grand Street and Avenue with 2 lane height restricted roadway.

     The bridge opened in 1902. Its total length is 230 feet.

Hell Gate Bridge

     Hell Gate Bridge (originally New York Connect Railroad Bridge) is a railroad bridge connecting the New York Burroughs of Manhattan and Queens.  The bridge carries 2 tracks for Amtrak and one for freight. 

 It is a steel arch bridge.  Its length is 17,00 feet. It was built in 1916. Engineers were Gustav Lidenthal, Othman Amman David Steinman.  The architect was Henry Hombostel.
