     Hell Gate Bridge (originally New York Connect Railroad Bridge) is a railroad bridge connecting the New York Burroughs of Manhattan and Queens.  The bridge carries 2 tracks for Amtrak and one for freight. 

 It is a steel arch bridge.  Its length is 17,00 feet. It was built in 1916. Engineers were Gustav Lidenthal, Othman Amman David Steinman.  The architect was Henry Hombostel.

     The Roosevelt Island Bridge opened on May 18, 1955.  Construction costs were $6.5 million.  It crosses  the east channel of the East River.  It connects Roosevelt Island in Manhattan to Astoria in Queens

     The bridge is a tower drive vertical.lift bridge.  It is 40 feet wide  and 2877 in length.  It has 2 lanes of roadway and 1 lane of sidewalk.

     Quensboro Bridge  aka Koch Bridge  is a cantilever double deck bridge over the East River.  This bridge has 2 separate cantilever spans over each side of the Roosevelt Island.  The bridge opened in 1909.

      The bridge connects Long Island City Neighborhood in.the burrough of.Queens with East Midtown and Upper East Side of Manhattan.

    On the upper level, pair of 2 lane roads.  Lower level with four vehicular lanes and a pedestrian lane and a bicycle.lane.

     The architects were Henry Hornbostel and Gustav Lindenthal.  The bridge was listed on.the National Register of Historic Places on December 20, 1978.

    Total length.was 7449 feet.  Width is 100 feet.  5 spans.

     The High bridge was originally the Aqueduct Bridge.  It spans the Harlem River River. The original bridge was completed in 1848 and consisted of 16 stone arches. It was part of the Croton  Aqueduct.

     In 1928, the 5 stone arches that spaned the Harlem  River were replaced by a single 450 feet steel arch.  Tue bridge was closed was closed to all traffic in 1970.  It was opened to bicycles and pedestrians in 2015.  Its length is 1450 feet.

     The Manhattan Bridge is a suspension type bridge.   The design is Warren Truss. It crosses the East River.  It connects lower Manhatten at Canal Street with downtown Brooklyn at the Flatbush Extension. It was designed by Leon Moisseff

       Its total.length.is 6855 feet.   Its width is 120 feet. It was opened to traffic on.December 31, 1909.  There are 4 vehicle lanes upper level.  The lower level has 3 traffic.lanes and 4 transit tracks.

    The bridge.was listed on the National Register of Historic Places on August 30, 1983

Spuyten Duyvil Bridge

     The Spuyten Duyvil Bridge is a railroad swing bridge. It consists of 3 fixed sections and one  290 feet swing section which can operate over 65 degrees.  It spans the Spuyten Duyvil Creek.  It connects Manhattan and the Bronx.

     It was constructed in 1900.  The architect was Robert Giles.  It was designed to handle 2 tracks.  Currently it handles only   one track.  It is currently used by Amtrak

     The George Washington Bridge is a double decked bridge suspension type.  Material is steel.   It crosses the Hudson River. It connects Fort Lee in Bergin County,  New Jersey with Washington  Heights in Manhattan.  The upper level carries 4 traffic lanes in each direction. The lower level carries 3 lanes in each direction.

     Bridge was designed by Othman Ammann, Allston Dana,and Edward Stearns.

     Total length is 4,700 feet.
