George Pullman Mansion

     George Pullman and his wife were married in 1867. In the next year, they purchased a 100 foot lot at the corner of Prairie Avenue and 18th Street in Chicago. They hired  archictet Henry Joffray to build a house on this lot.  Construction began in 1872 and completed in 1877.

     The house was 70 x 108 feet.  It was 7,000 square feet.  Address was 1729 Prairie Avenue.

     The exterior was Connecticut Brownstone. Style was Italianate.  Amenities were 200 seat theater,billiard room, bowling alley and a pipe organ.  The mansion was demolished 1927

Hunter Woods Finch House

The Hunter Woods Finch House

     This is a 2 story brick house.  It is located at 5235 University Chicago.    Style is Collegiate Gothic. It was built in 1904.  The architect was James Gamble Rogers. It was built for Hunter Woods Finch.  He headed Hunter W. Finch and Company Coal Company.

     There are 7 bedrooms and 7 bathrooms.  It is 7000 square feet

University  Club, Manhattan, New York

University Club Manhattan

     University Club is a private social club located at 1 West 54th Street and 5th Avenue in midtown Manhattan.  The club started in 1865 as an organization for the promotion of literature and art. It is not affiliated with any other University Club or College Alumnus Club.

     The current club house is a 9 story granite faced Renaissance Revival Style Building.  The architect was Charles Follen McKim. It was built in 1899.

     There are.three main.floors.  There are library rooms on the fourth floor. There is a dining area on the 7th floor.  There are baths and swimming pool in the basement.  On.the 10th floor, there are 5 singles squash courts.  The is one hardball squash court.

     The building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places onApril 16. 1990.

Frederick Pabst House, 2000 West Wisconsin Avenue, Milwaukee, Wisconsin

In 1890, Captain Frederick Past commissioned Milwaukee architect George bowman Ferry to design a mansion for him.  It was to be in the file ish Renaissance Style.

   A building permit was obtained on June 27, 1890.  Construction took 2 years.   The house is three stories with a pressed brick exterior.

      The Pabst family lived in the house from 1892 to 1908.

Historic Plaque

     It was purchased by the Archdiocese of Milwaukee in 1908.  It was used by them for 67 years. It was purchased by Wisconsin Heritage, Inc in 1978

Merchant Hotel Skipper Street Belfast

Merchant Hotel Belfast

     The building in Belfast which is currently known as the Merchant Hotel was previously the headquarters of the Ulster Bank

     It was constructed in the mid 19th century.  The architect was James Hamilton.  Contractors were D and J Fulton.  The building exterior is sandstone. Style is Italianate.

   The building became the Merchant Hotel in 2006.  This is a 5 star hotel.  It is owned and operated by Bangor entrepreneur Bill Wosley.

Sand Point Lighthouse Escabana, MI

Sand Point Lighthouse

     This lighthouse his located in Escabana, Michigan on Lake Michigan Northern Shore. The United States Lighthouse  Service  approved construction of the Sand Point Lighthouse at a cost of $11,000.  Construction was completed in early spring of 1868.

     The Sand Point Lighthouse is a story and one half rectangular building with an attached brick tower.  The tower is topped with a cast iron lantern room.  This houses a fourth order Fresnel lens emitting a fixed red light.

High School of the Performing Arts 120 West 46th Street New York, New York

High School of the Performing Arts

     This school was a public alternative school established in 1947 and located at 120 West 46th Street in the borough of Manhattan New York City, from 1948 to 1984.

 In 1961, the school was merged with another alternative arts school, the High School of Music and Art.  Each school retained its own campus.Both student bodies  eventually moved into a shared building named the Fiorella H. LaGuardia High School of Music and Art and Performing and Performing Arts at 100 Amsterdam Ave. New York, N.Y

Jupiter Inlet Lighthouse

     The Jupiter Inlet Light.is located in Jupiter, Florida on the north side of the Jupiter Inlet.  The site for the.lighthouse was chosen in 1853.  It was originally designed by Lt.George Meade.  It was modified by Lt. William Reynolds.  Work was completed in 1860 under the supervision of Captain Edward.A. York.

     The lighthouse was built on a hill.  Cost $ 60,000. The structure is 105 feet.tall.  The exterior is brick with double masonry wall.  Outer wall is conical. Inner wall is circular with double brick.

     The current. bridge at this.site opened on October.29,2017.  The bridge carries 3 lanes of City.Island Road.  It.connects City Island with Rodman’s neck.on.the mainlamd. The bridge.crosses.Eastchester Bay.
